Eclipe line
Joining forces for the better
Why not reuse disposable materials to make innovative and brand-new products? This was the challenge our president at Casabella presented for us. Eclipse was born with this rare plan brought by a consumer goods company. The idea was to make products with the maximum reused materials possible. I was the designated designer for this task, along with Sundberg-Ferar, studio design, and Casabella's marketing team. With their role model consulting, we did field research with consumers in California and Vermont. We believed that consumers on these markets were recognized as very cautious with the environment. The final concept consisted of tool heads that the same pole could share. The plastic parts of the tools were made with almost 100% recycled green PET bottles. The bristles in the broom head were made with recycled post consumers PP, picked in recycling centers. The aluminum poles were also made with many materials coming from recycled aluminum cans. The Eclipse line had an initial hit, but with time the market showed to be unready to embrace the cost of such ambition.
